Tiny 3.5GHz Couplers Target 5G

The RN2 CMX35P03 hybrid coupler spans 3300 to 3700 MHz, handles 5 Watts and measures 2 x 1.25 mm


RFMW announces design and sales support for surface mount couplers from RN2. The RN2 CMX35 series of couplers offer power handling and coupling factor options for 3.5 GHz, 5G radio systems. Offered in 3 different sizes, the P series is the smallest at 2 x 1.25 mm and can handle 5 Watts of RF power over a span of 3.3 to 4.2 GHz. The E Series measures 5.08 x 3.18 mm with power handling to 25 Watts over the same frequency span and the Q Series is 6.35 x 5.08 mm with power handling to 100 Watts from 3.3 to 3.8 GHz. As an example, the CMX35P03 is a hybrid, 3 dB coupler spanning 3300 to 4200 MHz with 20 dB isolation, 0.3 dB insertion loss and capable of handling 5 Watts average power. RN2 offers coupling factors of 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 30 dB as well as asymmetric 2/5 dB coupling for asymmetric Doherty power amplifier designs. The variety of sizes, power handling and coupling factors offer splitting and combining in standard and Doherty power amplifier designs, RSSI circuits and feedback loops for 5G NR.
