At IMS 2025, Joe Schmelzer of ED2 joins RFMW’s Colin Field to discuss the latest in advanced glass packaging for RF systems. The highlight of the conversation is the FB010BW16SG, ED2’s newly released 8-channel switch filter bank, built on fused silica and designed for high-performance receiver applications. This compact 9 x 9 mm multicore module offers 20 ns switching speed, low insertion loss, and full hermeticity. Optimized for use in EW, radar, and SATCOM systems, the filter bank integrates eight bandpass filters into a robust, space-efficient package. Joe also touches on ED2’s broader portfolio, including phased array modules and bandpass filters—all leveraging the company’s proprietary glass-based technology.
