Alternate Solutions for Worldwide TCXO Shortages The October 2020 fire at the Asahi Kasei Microsystems (AKM) factory in Nobeoka City, Japan, presented a wake-up call for the timing market and its customers. In an effort to ensure supply and mitigate risk, OEMs have qualified multiple Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators (TCXOs) from various suppliers. Despite these efforts, however, they have experienced an unprecedented shortage due to AKM being the single source IC manufacturer for the majority of these TCXOs. This article will identify the hardships that have been faced due to this catastrophe and explore current solutions that are available to…
RFMW announces design and sales support for an L-Band transistor from Qorvo. The QPD1029L power transistor offers 1500 Watts of RF power from 1.2 to 1.4 GHz in an air-cavity ceramic package. Internal input prematching reduces external board matching complexity and saves board space. Linear gain is 21 dB for this GaN on SiC device serving CW and Pulsed radar applications. With 75% power added efficiency, the QPD1029L operates from a 65 V drain voltage consuming 1500 mA.
RFMW announces design and sales support for a variable gain equalizer from Qorvo. The QPC7334 equalizer supports CATV amplifier and transmission systems from 5 to 700 MHz with a 20 dB slope range. Gain equalizers allow the ability to adjust for power roll off with changes such as temperature, cable length, etc. The QPC7334 has minimum insertion loss of 2.3 dB with flatness of 1 dB. Using integrated gain equalizers reduces a project’s bill of materials (BOM) and provides space reduction for dense PCB designs. Offered in a 6 x 6 mm package.
Posted by Peter Matthews on Apr 22, 2020 9:15:00 AM Reblogged with permission from Knowles Precision Devices To choose the right filter for your application, you’ll need to evaluate filter type, identify the specific filter technology that best suits your application, and ensure the filter meets your required specifications. This post is designed to serve as a quick reference on the common terms that are used to discuss filter type, technology, and specifications. To start, there are four key Filter behaviors that sort them into types: Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass, and Band Stop. Filter Types Filter Technologies Crystal…
