LPWAN FEMs offer 4X Extended Range Capability

Skyworks SKY66420, SKY66423 and SKY66421 LPWAN FEMs support 860 to 930MHz designsRFMW, Ltd. announces design and sales support for a family of high-performance Front-End Modules (FEMs) designed for improved range in Low-Power WAN (LPWAN), IoT applications. The Skyworks Solutions SKY66420, SKY66423 and SKY66421 support designs in the 860 to 930MHz frequency range. The SKY66420, SKY66423 are fully featured FEMs that include a power amplifier, Low-Noise Amplifier and T/R switch. The SKY66421 is a power amplifier. All 3 devices are pin-to-pin compatible and provide transmit power up to 27dBm while drawing 280mA from a 2.0 to 4.8V supply. Receive gain for the full-featured FEMs is 18dB with Noise Figure of 1.5dB. Increased output power and improved receive gain effectively quadruple communication range compared to standalone, system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. Supporting LoRA, SigFox and other LPWAN technologies, these devices will reduce total system Icc by as much as 30% and are suitable for operation from coin cell batteries supporting applications such as smart metering, home automation and asset tracking. Offered in a compact, 3 x 3mm MCM package.
